In the future, we may see a very different economy, one where regular full-time work is harder to come by.ย You don’t want to be at the whim of a company’s / economic downturn. You need to be able to hunt and provide for yourself.
So if you make any resolution for 2025, let it be investing in your personal brand.
I struggle with being public and the centre of attention.ย That’s not my default personality.ย But, I force myself to post every single day.
I can’t begin to tell you how much positives have come from it:
๐ Business ๐ Friendships ๐ Knowledge ๐ Confidence…
I used to be so afraid of judgement – what if I say the wrong thing and I look unknowledgeable or foolish.ย But, because I post so often, that fear has largely went away. I’ve become desensitized to what people think, which is a pleasing.
So, start a side hustle, grow your network, get a couple of clients, put together a website and a portfolio, productize your service, figure out a pricing model, continue to invest in your knowledge.
How to Grow on TikTok
Here’s what popular creators do on TikTok.
๐ 5-7 videos per day
๐ ๐๐จ๐ญ ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐๐ญ๐๐ – don’t be precious with your videos, just put out any thought that comes to you
๐ ๐๐๐ฐ – just talk and whatever comes out comes out (often they do one take)
๐ ๐๐ง๐ฉ๐จ๐ฅ๐ข๐ฌ๐ก๐๐ – no fancy edits, jump cuts, animation, lights, etc. Sound quality is still important. Invest in a lapel mic (I use a DJI Mic 2 wireless)
๐ ๐๐ซ๐๐๐ญ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐ฏ๐ข๐๐๐จ ๐ฅ๐ข๐ค๐ ๐ญ๐๐ฅ๐ค๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ ๐๐ซ๐ข๐๐ง๐ ๐จ๐ง ๐๐๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐ฆ๐ – use your natural speaking voice, cadence, and tonation. It should sound like an unfiltered stream of thought
Of course, you can do the exact opposite and still be successful on TikTok, but it’s a good reminder that we don’t always need high-production, polished content to compete.
