Appreciate the journey, not just the destination

Appreciate the journey, not just the destination.

It’s easy to get caught up with materialism, climbing ladders, chasing dreams, comparison, measuring, hustling…

The so-called ‘pursuit of happiness’ is not about arriving at happiness one day and being complete once all these goals are ticked off some arbitrary list.

Happiness is a leaky bucket.

Life is about constantly doing things that bring us joy, comfort, pleasure, satisfaction, enjoyment…

It’s about the small, everyday moments that bring us happiness.

A quiet evening with my wife, watching a sunset, reflecting on my early days of being a teenager, moving to Vancouver, failing, nearly becoming homeless, forcing myself to figure things out, being resourceful, strategizing, and eventually finding solid footing.

…it’s a reminder that we have all come so far, but so often we don’t appreciate it until we look back.
